Alice Bouvot has been making phenomenal wine at her Arbois-based l'Octavin winery for some time now - focussing on carefully grown and handled grapes, indigenous yeast fermentation, and no fining, filtering, or sulphur additions.The Muscat grown for this cuvée is made up of two varieties (Muscat a Petit Grains and Muscat d'Alexandrie) grown by Vincent Lafage from Saint-Jean Lasseille in Roussillon. Each variety is vinified separately (with approximately 15 days on skins), textural and aromatic, this is an absolute delight.

A & JF Ganevat Cotes du Jura Blanc Chardonnay La Graviere 2018

Predominantly Chardonnay (with a splash of Pinot), from vines in the Toulouse-le-Château region - which saw 12 months on lees. With an incredibly fine mousse (those lil bubbles!) this drinks wonderfully, with citrus, dried hay, hints of nuts, a gentle oxidative character, and lovely lees-y texture.

From an ancient clone of Chardonnay, these old vines produce powerful wines with serious depth & complexity. An alpine freshness leads on to a palate of salty citrus zest with a spicy, nutty tinge. Aged for 18 months in large barrels, this is full of nuance & intrigue.

Though originally from the Jura region, it took Nicolas Jacob a while for his passion for wine to materialise. As if making up for lost time, Nicolas sought out the very best mentors of the region, and was soon under the tutelage of both Laurent Macle (of Domaine Macle) and Jean-François Ganevat - the former eventually taking him on as his right-hand man. After purchasing a small plot of land in 2015, Nicolas became a fully-fledged producer four years later when he purchased a small winery along with an additional five hectares of vineyards. Les Chazaux is one of Nicolas' most recently acquired vineyards, with the vines approaching 40 years of age. The grapes were 100% destemmed, fermented with indigenous yeasts, and matured in neutral oak for nine months with no additions of any kind, including sulphur. It's bright and full of personality, with crunchy red berries, alpine herbs, and delicate florals framed by silky tannins and a slate-like minerality.

As if making up for lost time, Nicolas sought out the very best mentors of the region, and was soon under the tutelage of both Laurent Macle (of Domaine Macle) and Jean-François Ganevat - the former eventually taking him on as his right-hand man. After purchasing a small plot of land in 2015, Nicolas became a fully-fledged producer four years later when he purchased a small winery along with an additional five hectares of vineyards. Aux Perrieres is the youngest vineyard in Nicolas' holdings, having been planted in 2001. This is a beautiful example of Jurassic Pinot Noir, having been vinified as whole clusters for 20 days and delicately handled without any additions, including sulphur. Tart redcurrant and dark cherry lead the way towards a mineral-laden palate with rustic tannins and subtle hints of olive tapenade, alpine herbs, and licorice.

As if making up for lost time, Nicolas sought out the very best mentors of the region, and was soon under the tutelage of both Laurent Macle (of Domaine Macle) and Jean-François Ganevat - the former eventually taking him on as his right-hand man. After purchasing a small plot of land in 2015, Nicolas became a fully-fledged producer four years later when he purchased a small winery along with an additional five hectares of vineyards. Les Argales is a blend of Chardonnay and Savagnin from two separate plots, which were blended together subsequently and topped up with actively fermenting lees from the 2019 Savagnin in order to finish fermentation. It's textural and drenched in earthy minerals, with notes of citrus peel, green apple, freshly cut hay, and saline acidity.

As if making up for lost time, Nicolas sought out the very best mentors of the region, and was soon under the tutelage of both Laurent Macle (of Domaine Macle) and Jean-François Ganevat - the former eventually taking him on as his right-hand man. After purchasing a small plot of land in 2015, Nicolas became a fully-fledged producer four years later when he purchased a small winery along with an additional five hectares of vineyards. The L'Etoile La Haut Chardonnay comes from the first plot Nicolas purchased, with the vines for this cuvée having been planted in 1953. Prior to fermentation with indigenous yeasts, it was transferred to old demi-muids and matured for 18 months - periodically topped up to prevent oxidation. Lemon pith, white flowers, crushed gravel minerals, and subtle woodsmoke with taut acidity giving it beautiful length and bountiful energy.
