This is a cracking release from Yarra Valley legend Luke Lambert. As always, the fruit for this cuvée comes from the iconic Tibooburra vineyard in the upper reaches of the Valley, though Luke has changed the look and feel of this Chardonnay by incorporating a second plot from the same vineyard which sees more sun exposure and more closely planted vines. The 2020 Chardonnay is decidedly more concentrated than in previous years, yet still showcases Luke's inherent ability to preserve freshness and balance in his wines. It's awash with ripe nectarine, roasted hazelnut, a light herbal quinine touch, and a little lime leaf. There are whispers of subtle new oak that help support the generous fruit expression, with beautiful chiselled acidity running throughout the palate.
