With winemaking roots that date as far back as 1703, the Colla family has had an unmistakable influence on the history and development of Piemontese wine. In more recent years, legendary winemaker Beppe Colla has carved out a prodigious reputation in the region and further afield, having been one of the founding fathers of the Alba DOCs in the 1960s. Poderi Colla's 2016 Barbaresco Roncaglie Cru is an extraordinary wine, refined and effortlessly elegant. A nose of red cherry and dried rose petal lays the foundation for a palate of blackberry, tobacco, star anise, and subtle mint with powerful, enveloping tannins. Whilst not impassable in its youth, this wine is built to be aged and will reward those with the patience to do so.
